1. THE GIFT OF LISTENING...
You must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listen.
Listening is an attitude of the heart, a genuine desire to be with another which both attracts and heals!
2. THE GIFT OF AFFECTION...
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.
Caresses, expressions of one sort or another, are necessary to the life of the affections as leaves are to the life of a tree. If they are wholly restrained, love will die at the roots.
The hardest [thing] of all is learning to be a well of affection, and not a fountain: to show them we love them not when we feel like it, but when they do!
3.THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER...
Share articles and funny stories, share things… Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you.
Each day brings its own colours to be chosen, mixed, pigments of joy, happy moments, smiles and laughter....And which will you choose? For 'Life' is choice...
4. THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE...
It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light!
5. THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT...
A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super job", or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.
Do not offer a compliment and ask a favor at the same time. A compliment that is charged for is not valuable. It is better to deserve honors and not have them than to have them and not to deserve them!
6. THE GIFT OF A FAVOR...
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.
Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. Be kind to unkind people - they need it the most!
7. THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE...
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.
Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down!
8. THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION...
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really it's not that hard, to say, "Hello" or "Thank You".
Manners area sensitive awareness of the feelings of others. If you have that awareness,
you have good manners, no matter what fork you use!
We give and receive gifts each and every day. Gifts do not have to be monetary in value, the thoughts above brings out this point.
How many gifts can you give this week?
You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel.
A hundred years from now it will not matter what our bank account was, the sort of house we lived in, or the kind of car we drove... but the world maybe different if we
do the best we can... We never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another!
